Papier Mache Kathakali Mask

This craft is one of the popular crafts in kerala.. The craft persons make use of materials like used paper, paper dust, chalk powder etc. to make this product. A mould is prepared first to make required crafts. The preparation of mould is the man skilled work in this craft. The crafts made are usually depiction of puranic(epics) scenes of Gods/Goddess, Birds, Animals etc.

Rosewood,coconut stem and softwood are the woods used for this craft. The wood is sliced into small sizes of diamond shape by using table saw machine, holes are made crosswise, jointed together by using nylon thread to form the mat.
